Hope you all have been enjoying these summer months. Here is the latest on the start of our 6th year. There are several ways you can help;
  • Packing Night - Wednesday evenings http://signup.com/go/cHDXkwW  We have room for 8 volunteers plus our two packing leaders. Please sign children up to volunteer who do not need adult supervision. All ages are welcome and young children packing with their parent or guardian do not need signed up. Hope to see you all soon!
  • Packing Leaders - Wednesday started at 3:45 pm. We need two volunteers to lead packing nights at the church house. We will train you and provide a "guide" for introducing the program to our volunteers. Please contact myself or Janet Anderson at calliecoll@comcast.net to volunteer to be part of our "packing crew".
  • Backpack Delivery - We need drivers to deliver full backpacks on Thursday mornings this year. Bags can be picked up on Wednesday evenings or Thursday morning and need to be dropped off to all schools by 11 am. We are giving the students and extra day to get them home. The sign up will be available next week.
  • Food Drives / Food Collections - We are in need of people to take the initiative and organize independent food drives and collections. We will support you with promotional material and a needs list for our program. We will be weighing food donations this year too so it will be fun to see how much you can bring in. Great service project for families, church groups, clubs etc. Please help spread the word. Thank you! Call Shelley or Janet with questions.
  • The first Thursday of every month we meet at The Muddy Buck in downtown Evergreen at 9 am. If you would like to be more involved in Mountain Backpacks we encourage you to drop in. Next meeting is Sept 6th
Special thanks to Nolan Bly and his team of volunteers for redesigning our backpack space. Nolan is on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout and we are so grateful he chose the Mountain Backpack to give his time and talents too.
Looking forward to another year of keeping kids full and focused!
